Lunch @ UCEN

On days with no lunch seminar a (large) lunch group leaves the KITP at 12:30 from the exit by the auditorium.
This group walks to the UCEN (University CENter) where there are a number of food options (Salad, Pizza, Subway Sandwiches, Panda Express Chinese, Wahoo Fish Tacos, and the Root 217 Grill). Participants collect their own lunch (or bring it from home) and then regroup on the back patio by the lagoon. The tables on the patio have 4 attached chairs, and can accomodate 4 additional chairs which can be scavenged from inside the UCEN. To maintain our good relations with the UCEN so that the practice of scavenging chairs is tolerated, we do ask that you return such mobile chairs to where you found them inside the UCEN when lunch is over.

Jazz & Folk Music

There are actually a number of places that feature live music regularly, for example Cold Spring Tavern, The James Joyce, Dargan's, Muddy Waters, and occasionally at the closest place to campus The Mercury Lounge. The best place to find all local events, including copious amounts of classical, jazz, folk, rock etc. is our local weekly The Independent

SB has one place that features jazz and folk: SOhO Restaurant & Music Club .They have decent food if you want to eat before/during a performance.
